Forest Schools First Aid with Paediatric Training
This emergency outdoor and paediatric first aid qualification will provide learners with the skills and knowledge to respond to a range of emergency outdoor situations in a prompt, safe and effective way, particularly where professional medical help is not immediately available.
The qualification is designed for learners with a responsibility for the care of children and provides knowledge and skills to deal with a range of paediatric first aid conditions and incidents.

Forrest School practitioners of levels 1,2 and 3.
Duration
This is a 2 day course.
Topics covered:
A systematic approach to incident management
Infant, Child & Adult Resuscitation procedures
Choking - Infant, Child and Adult
Safe Airway Positions - Infant, Child, Adult
Bleeding - internal/external, major/minor
Shock - hypovolemic and anaphylactic
Hypothermia and hyperthermia
Febrile convulsions
Treating Damage - suspected fractures, head, neck and back injuries
Eye injuries and foreign bodies in eyes, ears and noses
Bites and stings
Poisoning
Burns and scalds
Electric shock
Common illness - epilepsy, asthma, sickle cell anaemia, diabetes
Certification
The ITC Forest School First Aid course has both an outdoor and paediatric element as standard. The certificate meets the FSE first aid benchmark. The Forest School First Aid course is also aligned with the Institute for Outdoor Learning, IOL, statement of good practice for outdoor first aid at band 3.
